Christmas Card and Tag

Well it's another glorious day here in N.I., typical when the kids get ready to go back to school the sun decides to shine!!
When I got this lovely Whiff of Joy Confirmand Melinda stamp I thought it would look great as a Christmas card as well so I have had a go and made a little set, a card and a tag. I'm also going to make a box for it.
The stamp was paper pieced using fab Basic Gray christmas papers I had left over from last year. I have used distress inks for the hair and skin. Someone sent me some lovely little doilies recently and I have inked them around the edges and embossed them with Winter Wonderland embossing powder. Looks a bit like snow and ice on the card as it sparkles when the light hits it. I have used a thin white ribbon and a pale blue fibre to make a knot, the sentiment was made on the computer and edges with the embossing powder. The flowers are from Wild Orchid crafts and I have added some sparkle to them. I also used some punched out holly leaves and sprigs.

O Christmas Trees!!

It's a beautiful morning over here in Northern Ireland, a glorious Bank Holiday Monday for once and guess what - I have to work! Hope you are having a fab day.
This is the first Christmas card for this year, apart from the swap challenge kits,I have made. I found these white peeloffs that I must have bought sometime when I was having a poke through my Christmas stuff. I stuck them onto some different Christmas papers, added a gem as the star, a piece of sparkly fibre and some nesties shapes and there you are , very quick and simple. The sentiment was made on the computer.  I have a few demos to do for Christmas so I need to be getting on and thinking of some new ideas for Christmas.

A New Home

More paper piecing here, I have used a stamp I bought from ebay and some fab papers from my scrap box. The flowers are made using punches and a little gem in the centre. The leafy fronds are a woodware punch. Unfortunately I have broken my McGill frond punch so am on the lookout for a new one, thinking about the Martha stewart one but I wonder would a cheaper one last just as long. I only had it for about a year but I did use it a lot. The sentiment was made on the computer. I also used some scallop edged scissors to make a border and the corner thingymajigs!

Now I have finally made a start on my Christmas cards so watch out for them coming soon.

Paper Piecing

I really love using stamps and then paper piecing them together using different papers. Here I have used a piece of newspaper for the the paper he is supposed to be reading (lol) and a scrap of blue paper for his jeans. I hadn't anything I liked for the armchair but it would be great paper pieced with a nice tiny patterned paper. The sentiment was made on the computer and I used a fine black liner to mark around the edge of the card.

Sympathy card

I thought I'd better make a start on some cards for my box to sell. I haven't managed to get any done for it for a while as I have been so busy with orders. I had this stamp out so I thought it lent itself very nicely to a sympathy card. I stamped it in black ink and embossed in holographic powder. The flowered  paper is Melissa Frances and the check a DCWV paper. The sentiment was made on the computer.

Another 80th birthday card

I have used K&Co papers for this card. I stamped a butterfly onto one of the papers in black ink and then embossed it with Holographic embossing powder. I love the shimmery effect when it catches the light. I then made a ivory coloured frame using my nesties and some beautiful textured card. I layered up the butterfly onto some nestie circles cut from pink pearlised cardstock and a matching paper from the pack. The sentiment was made on the computer and I have attached it using foam pads so that it sits in a dome shape.

Now I'm off to collect my grandson who is staying with me for the weekend so I don't think I'll get much crafting done!!

An Eightieth Birthday card

I have a couple of these to make for the same person and this is the first one using fab DCWV papers from the Garden Stack. The background paper is a lovely duckegg blue with glitter and gloss on it. The scalloped border is cut from another sheet from the same stack. I made the sentiment on the computer and cut it out using nestie labels and matted and layered on some more nestie labels shapes using different paper from the stack. The flowers are a couple of different sized punches with some pearls added and a few punched out fronds. A brown organza ribbon to finishes the card.

30th birthday card

This card uses one of the Pink Petticoat downloads which I have coloured with promarkers. I really have to watch a few videos on youtube to see how to colour with these markers. I love the effect but I haven't tried shading with them yet. I treated myself to to a couple of dozen of them so I'll have to find the time to experiment properly with them. The papers are My Mind's Eye just matted and layered and a border made using Martha stewart punch. The sentiment was made on the computer.

Vintage card for a few challenges.

It's been a while since I entered any of the challenge blogs so I liked the sketch on this weeks Mojo Monday challenge and decided to give it a go. I have also entered it into Bunny Zoes challenge which is Vintage. I have used K&Co papers throughout the card. I have also distressed everything to within an inch of its life lol. I have used the Tim Holtz distressing wheel and Spiced Marmalade distress ink.  I also stamped a floral stamp over the background paper using a brown ink pad. Some lace, a few buttons and some punched flowers and leaves to finish. The sentiment was made on the computer and cut out using a nestie die.

A couple of Sympathy cards

My daughter rang this morning requesting two sympathy cards for the death of an infant aged just 24 weeks. He lived for 2 hours. These are the cards I came up with. She needed them for this evening so they had to be quick.

The first one is made using a paper from a DCWV pack I have had for a long time, it seems to have lasted for ages. I made the sentiment on the computer, cut it using nestie labels one slightly larger than the other. The butterflies are punched out and I have added a few pearls and beads.

The next card using more papers from the same kit. I used a nestie circle and some scalloped circles

which I matted and layered onto various papers. I stamped the little daisies onto the white card and then onto several pieces of the patterned paper. I cut them out of the paper and decoupaged them onto the nestie circle. I added some blue matt pearls to the centre. The sentiment was made on the computer. I also added an organza ribbon.

Christmas card swap kit.

This is the card I made for the Christmas Swap Card Kit held over on the docrafts forum. You have to make a card, put it in an envelope and then send your partner the card and the bits that you used to make it. Your partner then makes up a card using what you have sent, opens up the made card and see what you have made with the same items.

The Final Golden Wedding cards

At last these are the final two cards for my Uncle and Aunt. They are quite simple ,this one uses a cuttlebug folder to matt and layer the sentiment with some gold mirri card. I then tied a piece of gold wire with some pearls on it around another piece of card . I added a gold border cut with decorative scissors and stuck it to the front of the card.

For this card I stamped the flower image in brown and then embossed some of it in gold onto a piece of K&Co paper. I also distressed the edges of the matt and embossed it in gold powder as well. The image was layered onto cream embossed  card and then onto a narrow border of gold.. The sentiment was made on the computer and mounted onto some gold mirri card.

More Golden Wedding Cards

These are a few cards from the grandchildren to Granny and Granda on their 50th wedding anniversary.

In this first card I used a stripe paper to cover the card front and the piece left showing underneath after I had chopped a bit off it. I added a border of cream lace threaded with a cream and gold ribbon. I made a couple of flowers using the Martha Stewart cosmos punch, punching the shape four times for each flower and then added a little button with a gold thread . I cut two small hearts from glitter card and hung from a thread from the flowers. The sentiment was made on the computer.

This is a fairly simple card but I think it looks quite stylish. I used a cuttlebug folder to make the background which I then layered onto some black card. I stamped the flowers and embossed them with gold embossing powder and then layered them onto the background. The sentiment was placed on the card and then accentuated with lines of gold peeloffs. I haven't used peeloffs for years but I like the look of them on this card. I finished with a broad ceam organza ribbon which was edged in gold. The whole piece was then stuck onto a white card .

The last card is for one of my daughters to give. This one is my favourite. I bought some fab stamps from a docrafter, Viv. and they are fab. The flower in the last card was one of them and this butterfly another. I stamped the butterfly in black ink onto some yellow K&Co paper. I did this twice and cut each one out. I then added some glitter to the outline, a row of different sized pearls to the body and some antennae made with gold wire and pearls. I layered on a couple of nestie circles. The sentiment was layered onto a pale gold glitter card.

Golden Anniversary

This is a card and box I made for my sister to give to Mum and Dad. I used a fab stamp I bought from Viv on the docrafts site. I bought several from her and I love them all and have used them to make several of the anniversary cards.  I embossed the butterfly with Rangers gold embossing powder onto a piece of K&Co paper. I did two and decoupaged one on top of the other. The little buttons are from my stash as are the gold wire and gold beads. I created a lacy border using a Martha Stewart punch and the sentiment was made on the computer. I also used a lot of gold mirri board. The butterflies on the box were punched out of K&Co paper and a layer of gold paper. I layered the sentiment onto nestie circles cut from the paper and some gold paper.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

I have been making some anniversary cards for my parents and my aunt and uncle who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Mum and her sister had a double wedding so we are having a joint celebration this weekend. This is the first of the cards I have made.
I used a photograph of them on their wedding day , scanned it and cut out using a nestie shape. I embossed the edges with ranger gold embossing powder and distressed some of the edges with tea dye distress inks.
I used some gold organza ribbon, some flowers from Wild Orchid crafts which I embossed a little and the sentiments were made on the computer.

Just playing with the remainder of these papers

I'm taking a break from making 50th anniversary cards to use up some of these fab papers. I have used a stamp set to stamp out different shaped presents which I then glittered and added to some matted and layered nesties. I finished with a spotty organza bow and a sentiment made on the computer. Now its back to those anniversary cards, my parents had a double wedding 50 years ago and I have a few cards to make for them. It's hard trying to make them all different. I will post when I have finished them.
